Congratulations to our 2021 Tau Beta Sigma Scholarship Recipients!

Legacy Scholarship for Business Abilities – Madison Aquino

Alpha, Oklahoma State  University

Madison Aquino has been selected by the Tau Beta Sigma Scholarship Committee as the recipient of the 2021 Legacy Scholarship. Madison’s outstanding abilities are apparent in the work she has completed throughout various parts of her school’s campus. She has served Tau Beta Sigma in a variety of leadership positions, to Chapter President, New ALTO copy editor, and Southwest District Vice President for Membership.  In her application, she speaks of how her experiences in Tau Beta Sigma through the pandemic have taught her to keep learning, to keep developing leadership skills and build a better chapter. Her comments on her development due to her relationship with Tau Beta Sigma demonstrate a deep level of self-understanding and make her a strong candidate for the Legacy Scholarship.

Wava Scholarship for Female Music Education Majors – Lauren Allen

Beta, Texas Tech University

Lauren Allen has been selected by the Tau Beta Sigma Scholarship Committee as the recipient of the 2021 Wava Scholarship. Lauren’s application demonstrates a strong understanding of her future role as a music educator in today’s society. Her philosophy statement speaks volumes about her desire to educate all students and provide a nurturing and supportive environment for her students. Her writing suggests a high-level understanding of educational psychology and student needs. Authors who pen her letters of recommendation speak of her leadership qualities, musicianship, and enthusiasm for all she does. She participates in multiple ensembles and is celebrated by her conductors and professors. In a crowded field of applicants, Lauren stands out as a strong candidate for the Wava Scholarship.

Outstanding Student Leader Scholarship – Abigail Folger

Beta Zeta, Stephen F. Austin StateUniversity

Abigail has been selected by the Tau Beta Sigma Scholarship Committee as the recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Student Leader Scholarship. Abigail’s leadership in Tau Beta Sigma has helped her grow as a collegiate student leader. Her ability to showcase her leadership skills as the Vice President for Education for her chapter and being able to successfully initiate fourteen new members virtually says so much about her growth and potential. Letters from her supporters praise her hard work and dedication to her activities. With his extensive service to bands and Tau Beta Sigma, Abigail makes a strong candidate for the Outstanding Student Leader Scholarship.

PDH Outstanding Musical Achievement Scholarship – Lindsey Kovach

Eta Zeta, University of Kentucky

Lindsay has been selected by the Tau Beta Sigma Scholarship Committee as the recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Musical Achievement Scholarship. Upon review of the audio files supplied for this award, the committee was impressed with the expression, fluidity, tone, and musicianship of Lindsey’s flute performance. Her recording was truly outstanding. In addition, Lindseys list of musical achievements is incredible; she has won numerous competitions and performance honors.. On top of all of this, she maintains an active role as President in the Eta Zeta chapter, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Student Ambassador for the UK College of Fine Arts. Lindsey’s outstanding application makes her a strong candidate for the Outstanding Musical Achievement Scholarship.
