Why Tau Beta Sigma?
Tau Beta Sigma operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that they require of their band. Our goals are not only to provide the band with organized and concentrated service activities, but to give our membership valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadership, and social contacts.

Hannah Baran | Active Member & Baton Recipient
Tau Beta Sigma has provided me with ways to grow as a leader, musician, person, and professional. I have been able to have many different opportunities for leadership within my Chapter, including Historian and President, which have allowed me to deepen my connections with the organization and learn valuable leadership skills. The support I had from my Chapter in these roles helped me to thrive. As a non-music major, TBSigma provided a way to deepen my connections with my band program, as well as make connections within the District and the National organization.

Risa Jo Baker | Alumni Member & Past Scholarship Recipient
Before my senior year of college, I was awarded the Tau Beta Sigma Wava Scholarship. This scholarship helped to cover my expenses for school, and resulted in just a less money that I had to repay in student loans. Since that time, I have since earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Utah, and I am currently working on my DMA in Music Education through Boston University’s online program. I have been teaching music for 14 years, and have taught band, choir, orchestra, and guitar. During my first year of teaching, one of my orchestra parents noticed my Tau Beta Sigma sticker on my car and told me he was a brother in Kappa Kappa Psi! I will be forever grateful for my experience in Tau Beta Sigma!
