The Beta Phi chapter (#69) was installed at Florida A&M University on May 26, 1960. Nancy Fowler served as the installing officer, and the Alpha Omega chapter from Florida State University performed the Ritual and installation ceremony. Charter members include: Gail Yvonne Jefferson, Guelda Joyce White, Avalon Darby Dowdell, Gloria J. Smith, Beverly K. McGowan, Metro Laricks Lewis, Cornelia McGowan, Althea Sample, William Patrick Foster, and James H. Latimer.
