The Tau chapter (#19) was installed at the University of Houston on March 25, 1950. Tau Beta Sigma National Council members Frances Martin Lumley and Norma Eiring Parrish served as the installing officers. Charter members include: Eloise Faith Adams, Christine Isabelle Roos, Ruth Wanell McLain, Barbara Maxine Canant, Joyce Elaine Skelton, Claire Elaine North, Pauline Oliveros, JoAnn (Parker) Hoffman, LuJane Williamson, and Robert Hammitt.
