Executive Council
The Executive Council (EC) will be comprised of 6 members: the chair and 5 at large positions. Two ad hoc members will also sit on the EC, one member of the national council and one member of the board of trustees.
Each at large position will be a 4-year term, with staggered eligibility, so that 2 at large members will be elected every 2 years. Distance elections (utilizing online or mail ballots) will be held each fall immediately following national convention. The chair will be elected from within the council.
Each EC member must meet the following qualifications:
- At least 25 years of age
- A member in good standing of the Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association
- Hold a 4 year college degree
- Demonstrate outstanding business skills
Current Executive Council
Sue Robash Carr, Chair
Sue Robash Carr was initiated into the Delta Delta Chapter at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the October of 1974. She has remained actively involved with Tau Beta Sigma to this day. As an undergraduate Sue served as Chapter President and delegate at district conventions and first national convention at UCLA in 1977.
After graduation she got involved with alumni, creating one of the first TBΣ alumni groups, the New England Alumni Association and also became the Chapter Sponsor at UMass. Sue attended the National Convention in Cincinnati in 1981 as the sponsor and was appointed District IX Counselor, in addition to being appointed TBS Co-Chair to the first joint ad hoc alumni committee 1981- 1983 with KKPsi Co-Chair, Paul Buschmeyer.
She served as district counselor until national convention 1989 at OSU where Sue was elected to the Board of Trustees. She served a total of four terms 1989-1997 (Chair 1995-97) and 1999-2007 as the Alumni Liaison to the NAA of TBΣ and KKPsi. It was during Sue’s final term on the Board, that the NAA was dissolved and the Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association was founded. She is a charter member and the first elected member of the Executive Council and is responsible for the finances of the organization.
Sue was the recipient of the Wava Banes Award in 1985, which she treasures to this day. At the 2011 national convention in Colorado Springs CO, she was honored to receive one of the first Tau Beta Sigma Distinguished Service Pins. Sue currently lives in Quincy, Massachusetts with her husband Rich and their two cats. Her son Michael, a TBΣAA Friend member, and his wife Andrea live in Falls Church Virginia.
Megan Burke, Vice Chair
Megan Burke became a member of the Delta Delta Chapter at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Spring of 2003 and is currently a life member. While active, Megan served in multiple positions including Vice President of Service, Corresponding Secretary, Parliamentarian, and both chapter and Northeast District webmaster.
Megan holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master’s of Arts in Arts Administration from the Florida State University. She currently works for the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs as a Grant Program Manager. Megan lives in Tallahassee, FL with her uncharacteristically cute dog, Fenway.
Tamara Henry
Tamara has been involved in Tau Beta Sigma since her initiation in Spring 1992 at University of Maryland (Beta Eta). She transfered to Morgan State (Epsilon Omega) in January 1994.
Tamara held the office of NE District Treasurer (1995-1996) and NE District Vice President (1996-1997). She became a life member in Spring 1996.
Tamara has a BS in Business Education, a MS in Secondary Education w/ Technology Empasis, an Education Administration & Supervision certification and presently work as an IT Technician at a Performing Arts Middle School. She has taught tap dance throughout the DC Metropolitan Area, danced in a tap company for 8 years, judges dance & drill competitions and has started her own adult and youth performance ensembles. Tamara is the Artistic Director and Owner of Body Rhythms Center for the Arts in Landover, Maryland.
Stephanie Salazar
Stephanie Salazar is a high school English teacher at Premont High School in Premont, Texas. She is also involved as colorguard instructor for the high school marching band, yearbook advisor, senior class sponsor, and head of the English/Communications department. She lives in Kingsville, Texas where she is currently finishing her Master's degree in Educational Administration. She enjoys reading, writing, movies, music, spending time with her favorite person in the whole world, Michael Valdez.
Amanda Dickson
Amanda Dickson became a member of the Beta Zeta chapter of Tau Beta Sigma at Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall of 1996. In 2004, she transferred to the University of Texas at Arlington and became an active member of the Gamma Nu chapter of Tau Beta Sigma. While at UTA, she held the office of Chapter Parliamentarian along with Secretary/ Treasurer and President for the Southwest District. Amanda was the trumpet section leader and field instructor for the UTA Marching Band as well as principal chair for UTA’s Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.
Amanda received her Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from Texas Tech University. She is now a private lesson instructor for middle and high school students and a freelance musician.
In 2008, Amanda was extended Honorary Membership to the Southwest District chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. Amanda currently resides in Houston, TX and is excited to serve the sorority as a member of the Executive Committee of the TBΣAA.
Leslie Twite
Leslie Twite was initiated as a member of the Zeta Nu Chapter of TBΣ
at the University of Northern Iowa in December of 2002. While an
active member, she served a variety of offices on a chapter and
district level, ranging from Ritualist, Chapter President, and
District Vice President for Membership. Leslie graduated from UNI in
2007 with a dual degree in Music Education and French Horn
performance. Currently, she is an Elementary Music Teacher and Middle
School Band Director for the East Marshall School District, and lives
in Marshalltown, Iowa. She lives with her boyfriend, Justin, a
systems analyst (whatever that means) for the Emerson/Fisher
Cooperation, and their dog Sophie, who is a lab mix and better behaved
than most small children!
Chris Gordon, Board of Trustee representative
Chris Mullen Gordon became a member of the Psi chapter of Tau Beta Sigma at the University of Arkansas in the fall of 1993. While active, she held the offices of Recording Secretary and President, as well as Vice President for the Southwest District. Chris served as piccolo drill captain and section leader for the Razorback Marching Band and played in the University Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. She was also a member of the music department’s flute studio.
Chris holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas, and a Master’s in Child and Family Studies from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. She works as a freelance writer and business consultant, specializing in people performance and business processes. She also moonlights as a private flute instructor for middle and high school students, and works with graduating seniors to connect them with Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma at their selected colleges and universities.
Chris served Tau Beta Sigma for seven years as the counselor for the Southwest District, from 2002-2009. She was extended Honorary Membership to the Southwest District chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi in 2004. Chris is excited to continue serving the sorority as a member of the Board of Trustees. She currently resides in Austin, TX with her husband (who is also named Chris).
