Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee (EC) will be comprised of 5 members: the chair and 4 at large positions. Two ad hoc members will also sit on the EC, one member of the national council and one member of the board of trustees.

The Chair of the EC will be appointed to a 2-year term by a committee consisting of the TBΣ National President, TBΣ National VP of Colonization & Membership, TBΣ Trustee Chair and TBΣ Trustee Vice Chair. The appointment will come after National Convention.

Each at large position will be a 4-year term, with staggered eligibility, so that 2 at large members will be elected every 2 years. Distance elections (utilizing online or mail ballots) will be held each fall.

Each EC member must meet the following qualifications:

  • At least 25 years of age
  • A member in good standing of the Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association
  • Hold a 4 year college degree
  • Demonstrate outstanding business skills

Current Executive Committee

Debbie Baker, Chair

Deborah L. Baker sits as the Chair of the Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association Executive Committee. Her role is to facilitate the new organization into the Sorority Vision. Debbie works with four committee members. Together they focus on the needs of Tau Beta Sigma Alumni.

Debbie has been involved in Tau Beta Sigma on various levels. She is a Past National President, held positions of National Vice President of Colonization/Membership and National Professional Relations Officer, and coordinated the National Intercollegiate Band three times. Debbie was initiated into Beta Xi chapter, University of Florida; is an honorary member of Theta Lambda, Auburn University and the Midwest District; and a Life Member of the National Chapter.

Debbie is a member of Music Educators National Association, Georgia Music Educators Association, National Band Association, Women Band Directors International, and is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi.

Debbie is married to Glenn Baker who is an air traffic controller for the FAA. Their daughter, Belinda, is a percussionist in the Whitewater High School Band. The Baker family resides in Fayetteville, Georgia.

Chris Vanacore, Vice Chair

Chris has been involved in Tau Beta Sigma since her initiation into the Zeta Upsilon chapter at West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 1999. She served as the Northeast District Treasurer from 2001-2003 and is a life member of the sorority.

Chris works full time in the marketing department of a private equity finance firm based in Bala Cynwyd, PA. She remains involved in music as the pit technician for United Percussion, a WGI Independent World Class Indoor Drumline. Chris also works with various high schools in the Philadelphia Area during the marching band season.

In addition to Tau Beta Sigma, Chris is a life member of Alpha Phi Omega, a alumni of Omicron Delta Kappa and honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi.

Sue Carr

Sue Robash Carr is a Life Member of the Delta Delta Chapter at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She has served as the District Counselor of the Northeast (District IX originally!).

In 1985 Sue was the recipient of the Wava Banes Award, which she treasures to this day. Most recently having served on the Tau Beta Sigma Board of Trustees 1989-1997, 1999-2007 as the Alumni Liaison to the National Alumni Association. Sue lives in Quincy, Massachusetts with her husband Rich and their son Michael who shares her love of music.

Ed Elsea

Ed Elsea (Midwest District Honorary) received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri in 1994. While at the University of Missouri, Ed was an active member of the Eta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.

He is currently an active member and member of the Board of the Marching Mizzou Alumni Band Association.

While a student, Ed was the Midwest District Member-At-Large and then President. While in these positions, he worked with his counterpart in Tau Beta Sigma to commission a work for college bands on behalf of the District Organizations, visited most all campuses in the district, and sought to keep both organizations working to improve college bands. Because of this, the Midwest District, led by President Leslie Ain-McClure, asked him to become an honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma. At the National Convention in Orlando, Florida, on August 5, 1995, he became an honorary member of the sorority.

Ed has attended many district conventions and all National Conventions since 1990. After the 2000 National Convention in St. Louis, President Karon Miller-Hammond asked him if he would like to be considered for the Midwest District Counselor position which had opened up. So, from 2000-2003, Ed served the Midwest District of Tau Beta Sigma as their counselor. In 2003, Ed was elected to his first term on the Tau Beta Sigma National Board of Trustees.

Since graduation from the University of Missouri, Ed has worked professionally as a band director and clinician around the state of Missouri. In 2001, he finished his Master of Arts degree from Southeast Missouri State University in Educational Leadership. Since that time, he has been employed by the Santa Fe Public School System as the Elementary Principal in Waverly, Missouri.

Ed is an active in both his community and profession. He is West Central District Vice President for the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals, Secretary for the Waverly Chamber of Commerce, Recorder for the Knights of Columbus, and Chair for the annual Waverly Jay-Cees Apple Jubilee Parades.

He continues playing his flute with the Marshall community band and Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra. He spends his spare fall weekends as a season ticket holder for Mizzou Football, actually going for the half-time show!

Tamara Henry

Tamara has been involved in Tau Beta Sigma since her initiation in Spring 1992 at University of Maryland (Beta Eta). She transfered to Morgan State (Epsilon Omega) in January 1994.

Tamara held the office of NE District Treasurer (1995-1996) and NE District Vice President (1996-1997). She became a life member in Spring 1996.

Tamara has a BS in Business Education, a MS in Secondary Education w/ Technology Empasis, an Education Administration & Supervision certification and presently work as an IT Technician at a Performing Arts Middle School. She has taught tap dance throughout the DC Metropolitan Area, danced in a tap company for 8 years, judges dance & drill competitions and has started her own adult and youth performance ensembles. Tamara is the Artistic Director and Owner of Body Rhythms Center for the Arts in Landover, Maryland.

Kimbi Sigle, National Council representative

Kimbi Sigle has been a member of Tau Beta Sigma since 1988 when she was initiated into the Eta Omega chapter at Fresno State University. While a music education student, Kimbi held the chapter offices of president (1992 - 1994) and parliamentarian (1994 - 1995) as well as serving two terms as Western District president (1994 - 1996). She also served as vice-president of the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference chapter in Fresno.

Kimbi was appointed as the Western District Counselor from 1998-2001. She served as the National Vice President for Communication & Recognition (2001-2003) and the National Vice President for Special Projects (2003 - 2005).

Mrs. Sigle is the Director of Bands at Roosevelt High School of the Arts in Fresno, California. Her main instruments are flute and saxophone but she also has percussion, trumpet, and color guard performance experience. She is a member of the California Band Directors Association, MENC, CMEA, is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and a life member of Tau Beta Sigma.

At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve 1998/1999 Kimbi married Benny Sigle. The two are now raising their children, India Marie and Melina Marin.

Kelly Eidson, Board of Trustee representative

Kelly (Twomey) Eidson joined Tau Beta Sigma in the spring of 1996 with the Beta Sigma chapter at Purdue University. While at Purdue, Kelly served in numerous chapter leadership positions, as well as two terms on the North Central District council. As a member of Purdue University Bands, Kelly played clarinet and tenor saxophone with the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band, Spring Concert Band, and Spring Variety Band, along with serving in the Student Officer Corps and as Student Coordinator of the Purdue Jazz Festival for 2 years. One of the highlights of Kelly’s collegiate career was being selected for the Outstanding Bandswoman Award, presented by the Beta Sigma chapter in recognition of the service and dedication to Purdue University Bands. Upon graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management degree in 2000, Kelly moved back to her home in Arlington Heights, IL.

Kelly didn’t let graduation stop her love of music or service to the sorority. She became a Life Member in 2000 and quickly became involved as a Director with the National Alumni Association, representing the North Central District until summer 2007. In addition, Kelly was instrumental in the creation of the new Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association.

Outside the sorority, Kelly continues to play her instrument in a local community band and has even recruited many fellow Boilermaker alumni to join her in performing music throughout the northern suburbs of Chicago. In addition, she volunteers with her husband, Bill (Life Member of the Gamma Pi chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi at Purdue), with the marching staff for a local high school marching band. Outside of her ongoing commitment to music, Kelly works for CDW in technology sales and raising her son, Charles.

Kelly is excited to continue serving the sorority and supporting women in music as a Trustee for the 2007-2011 term.
