Member Directory on the Horizon
The Membership Committee is building an interactive google website for our TBSAA members. Although we are a few months from launch, I wanted to let you know that there will be an opt-in for you to be listed in a member directory. Many members have requested such a directory to connect with local members, and we are responding!
Workshop Presenter Database Progressing
We are in the process of creating a workshop presenter database. Thank you to everyone who has sent along your information already.
As a reminder, the purpose for this is two-fold. First, many of our alumni have expressed a desire to be able to assist local chapters. We will compile this list of presenters and topics and it will be available to chapters seeking to bring someone in to cover a topic. So, if you were a VPM when you were an active and had some great rush ideas, put in the database you will do a workshop on Rush/Recruiting. The topic ideas are limitless.
Also, we are looking for people with some form of professional expertise, be it finance, networking, resume building, graduate school, an educational technique, etc.. We will begin hosting quarterly professional development workshops for our members via conference call. This provides great professional development for the presenters and is another service we can provide our membership. We will host our first session in June, topic to be announced in Early May!
June Professional Development Workshop
The Professional Development Workshop will be on Monday, June 21st at 9:00pm eastern time.
Teachers’ Roundtable in July
SAVE THE DATE: the call will be on Monday, July 19th at 9pm Eastern time. Recognizing our organization has a significant number of educators in our membership, we will host quarterly conference calls that will allow our educators to network, knowledge share, and leverage each others skill sets. We will take topic requests in advance and also have free dialogue during the call. If you have a preferred topic, please email tbsaa@tbsigma.org.
DCI Social in August
On August 13th, at a time TBD, TBSAA will be hosting a picnic for our members at White River State Park. You and your families can get free food and relax watching corps warm-up before semifinals. Non-family is welcome as well, we will just as for a $5 donation to offset food costs. If you want to help with the event (and thank you to the volunteers we already have), please email tbsaa@tbsigma.org.
Mentoring Program Launching -- sign up today!
Are you fresh out of college, entering a field where you could use someone to give you a helping hand and a listening ear? Or maybe you are established in your career and are looking to give back to your sisters, with "generosity of mind, heart, and hand," remembering what it was like to transition from college to the real world? Then sign up for the mentoring program!
The mentoring program pairs up mentors, established in their careers, with sisters who need an experienced voice as they start the next chapter in their lives. ANY alumni sister can become a mentor! Sisters will be paired by career interest. Mentors and sisters being mentored will meet via phone call or chat at least once a month, and are welcome to contact each other with advice, questions, and support at any time through phone calls, e-mail, Facebook, or other social sites.
Sisterhood doesn't stop with college! Give back to your community and your sisters by becoming a mentor! Contact Janet Tenpas at coffeegirl9@gmail.com if you are interested or if you have any questions.
